Harmony for IBM and SAP, Duet for Microsoft and SAP

IBM Lotus software solutions for SAP software
Last week a lot of news appeared about IBM’s new products IBM Workspace for SAP Software and IBM Lotus Notes access for SAP solutions. It has been said both are of an initiative dubbed “Project Harmony”. I’ve never heard Project Harmony. The question is what “Project Harmony” is.

I know that SAP and IBM have been working for a long time and IBM has an SAP competence center in its each location. It means that IBM even serves SAP consulting to SAP users. When I was working at I-BIMSA, joint-venture of Sabanci Holding and IBM Turkey, we were working with IBM employees closely. You can guess that IBM servers that include MS Windows, IBM AIX or even AS/400; and IBM DB2 database products make IBM works with SAP a lot. SAP –users- is a big customer for IBM. IBM is a big supporter for SAP. Put yourself instead of SAP, you would work with big brothers are Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, HP, etc. It is obvious that Microsoft and Oracle are kind of competitor of SAP. So you would be eager to work IBM or HP rather than others. Right?

Monday, May 15th, 2006

jeff_nolan_xray.jpgJeff Nolan, runs SAP Apollo Group at SAP, pointed out there would be a bloggers corner at SAPPHIRE ‘06 almost one month ago. It is time to see what is going to happen at this corner.

I came across Staying Ahead of the Pack (SAP) by Dennis Howlett today and I found out that Jeff Nolan invited 10 independent enterprise bloggers which do not include me :) I believe independent bloggers mean that they don’t work for SAP.

logo_sapphire.gifSAPPHIRE ’06 Orlando scheduled for May 16 – 18, 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida.

I live in Atlanta and it means that I am quite near to Orlando even I can drive through Orlando for about 7 hours. But unfortunately I could not go to SAPPHIRE. I would wish be there but I am in a job of last two weeks. After two weeks I will start a new project search. It is going to be good change for me hopefully.

I have been intending to follow news and sessions online and publish some articles about SAPPHIRE. Especially I am wondering what bloggers write about it. See you!

Southco Selected mySAP Business Suite

Soutco Logo

It seems that a new SAP project starts in Soutco which located in Pennsylvania USA.

Questions came to my mind : Who is going to implement this project? Will SAP provide consulting directly to Southco or another consulting company?

Let me summarize Jeff Moad’s, MA Editorial Staff, article “SAP Bests Oracle at High Profile Mid-Market Account“.

Southco, which makes latches for automotive, high-tech, and other applications, selected the mySAP Business Suite over Oracle’s E-Business Suite following a six-month evaluation process. Southco has launched a two-year project to implement the SAP ERP software across its 15 worldwide plants, beginning with a facility in Sweden. Southco also plans to implement SAP’s CRM and data warehouse products following the ERP rollout.

Friday, May 5th, 2006

Eran Kampf, a software developer working at SAP Labs Israel as part of Duet team, published his first post of a series about Duet development. –I assume Eran is a gentleman- He said:

My name is Eran Kampf and I’m a software developer working at SAP Labs Israel as part of Duet team here. The group here in Israel is in charge of building SAP platform and tools to support the development of the different applications in Duettm.

Besides posting about .NET development, SAP and other technology matters I’ll try to post (and maybe get some of my coworkers to guest post) information regarding Duettm development.

The first post is “Duet behind the Scenes”. He is explaining the Duet architecture (drawn by an unknown artist). :) Look at this!

I came across John Pollar’s “The Power of Viral Marketing (or at least the power it had on SAP)” article and commented his article. Even he sent me a kindly thanks e-mail for my comment.
